It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - ruler;
  • - compasses;
  • - pencil;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

You don't need any tools to prepare your origami sheet. Take a regular rectangular sheet of A4 writing paper or any other. Place it vertically in front of you. Bend it starting at one of the corners and aligning one of the short sides with the long one. You have a double triangle with an "extra" strip. For more precision, flatten the sheet, and then fold it again, starting at the other corner and aligning the same short side with the second long one.

Step 2

Bend the strip to either side. It can be cut or torn off gently. If you don't have scissors at hand, fold the strip one side and the other, and smooth the fold line each time. It will separate itself. You can also cut the strip with scissors. Straighten the square.

Step 3

A square background made of thick paper is often required for applique work. There is no point in preparing it in the previous way, since the fold line will remain. Take a sheet of velvet paper or thin cardboard and turn it face down. Spread the legs of the compass to the desired distance. Set aside this segment from the same corner. Draw perpendiculars to the obtained points until they intersect. To make the shape more even, lay the sheet on a flat surface, place a ruler or strip next to it, and align the paper cut with the side of the ruler. Place the square on the sheet so that one of the legs fits tightly with the rail. Gently move the square to the desired point and draw a perpendicular.

Step 4

Many small squares may be needed for appliqué, paper design or counting. They can be cut from a single sheet of paper if marked correctly. In the same way as in the previous method, spread the legs of the compass to the desired distance. Lay the sheet horizontally and set aside the required number of segments along the upper long cut. Then set them aside along the bottom edge, in the same direction. The points should be strictly opposite each other. Mark the sides in the same way. Connect the dots in pairs. You should have a square mesh. It only remains to cut it. It is better to use long scissors for this. A knife with a trapezoidal blade is suitable for thick paper. It is better to cut with a knife using a metal ruler.
