A volumetric paper square is a cube that is easy to make on your own, following simple instructions. You can do this with your children - it will be interesting for them to design this geometric figure.

It is necessary

  • - paper;
  • - cardboard;
  • - ruler;
  • - pencil;
  • - scissors;
  • - glue;
  • - markers;
  • - colored paper;
  • - paints.

Instructions

Step 1

Using a ruler and a pencil, draw a blueprint of the cube on a sketchbook sheet of paper. It should have six faces, each of which is a square. Arrange them in the sweep so that you have to glue as few edges as possible. Place the four side faces next to each other, and the top face and base on the sides of the flat pattern.

Step 2

Strengthen the cube from the inside with a cardboard frame, making exactly the same unfolding, but without the top and without the base. Draw the skeleton a few millimeters smaller than the main cube.

Step 3

Draw special valves to the reamers, they will then be smeared with glue. Most often, when gluing, the valve is glued immediately to the edge of the cube, but if the paper is very thin, then glue the valves together, and the edges will remain intact.

Step 4

Carefully glue the frame, then a cube around it. Paste it on top with colored paper, you can make applications, paint it with paints, felt-tip pens or pencils - for which you and your assistants have enough imagination. If you are making a die for a board game, put the number of points on its edges. But do not forget that on the opposite sides they should add up to the number 7.

Step 5

If you still want to make not a cube, but a three-dimensional square (although there is no such figure in geometry, since a square is a plane, planimetric figure), use the origami method.

Step 6

Take a square sheet with a side of 15 cm.

Step 7

Fold the sheet in half to create a crease, then unfold it back.

Step 8

Now, for the same sheet, bend its edges to the center of the fold. Flip the sheet over, fold each of the opposite corners towards the center to form a trapezoid.

Step 9

Fold the corners of the trapezoid from the opposite side towards the center to form a square. Thus, you will get a "volumetric square".
