"A Dog's Life 2" is a continuation of the 2017 family film about the adventures of Bailey the dog, who lives several lives, but in each of them finds himself connected with his first owner Ethan Montgomery and his family. The sequel will affect the pet's relationship with the daughter of the Montgomery couple, CJ.
Release date and plot of the film
The action of the film "A Dog's Life 2" starts almost immediately after the original film. Bailey the dog lives in the guise of the retriever Buddy with his longtime owner Ethan Montgomery, who recently became the father of a long-awaited daughter named CJ. Gradually, the girl grows up and leaves the parental home. The mother and father, in turn, try to do everything possible so as not to move away from their daughter, although this does not always work out. Bailey becomes a kind of link between family members, thanks to which they find peace and tranquility.
As in the first part of the film, the dog's life is limited, but after death his soul is reborn in a new guise, usually of a different breed, and gets a new nickname. The animal finds itself in the most unusual situations, often changes owners, but in the end it again ends up with members of the Montgomery family. At the same time, the dog tries to study the habits of people, help them in difficult situations, and sometimes even saves lives. The plot of the first and second films is based on the book by the American writer Bruce Cameron "The Life and Purpose of a Dog".
The release of the trailer for the upcoming premiere, which is scheduled in Russia on June 27, 2019, took place in January of the same year. Judging by it, the sequel will not focus only on the relationship between the dog and CJ. The first part showed a large number of characters who became the owners of Bailey after his rebirth, and the sequel will be no exception: viewers will again see several interesting and dissimilar stories. Throughout the film, CJ will face many problems that will arise as she grows up, and the tape promises to be an excellent guide for all parents who have a hard time finding a language with their own children.
Cast and filmmakers
The film "A Dog's Life 2" was directed by Gail Mancuso, who has credited many comedy and family series, including "Friends", "Clinic", "American Family" and others. Fans of the original film very much hope that she will be able to repeat the success of Lasse Hallström, who directed it. A considerable advantage of the latter was a great experience with films about animals, in particular "Hachiko", however, judging by the trailers of the tape "A Dog's Life 2", Gail Mancuso did an equally excellent job.
In the continuation of the film, American actor Dennis Quaid will again star in the role of Ethan Montgomery, the owner of the dog. Ethan's wife, Hannah, will be played by actress Marg Helgenberger, and two actresses are announced as the daughter of the couple - Abby Ryder Fortson and Catherine Prescott, who will portray her at different periods of her life. In the American version of the film, Bailey's dog will again speak in the voice of actor Josh Gad, but in the Russian version it will most likely be dubbed by Ilya Isaev. Also, cameraman Terry Stacy worked on the sequel once again, and composer Rachel Portman created an equally beautiful and touching soundtrack.
So, a wonderful family movie awaits the audience. In the United States, where the film was released in early May, it has already collected a decent box office and received positive reviews from critics. "A Dog's Life 2" is a worthy sequel to the story of the dog Bailey, which is filled with both dramatic and funny moments.
