You can embroider with ribbons flowers, animals, fruits, landscapes and much more. The embroidery is created from satin, nylon, silk or corrugated ribbons.
Embroidery ribbons
Satin ribbons are best suited for beginners, as they can hold their shape well due to their rigidity.
Use floss for very fine details. The size of the tapes should be between two and sixty millimeters, the most popular tape width is between eight and thirty millimeters.
Embroidery fabric
It is best to choose fabric for embroidery from materials such as satin, knitwear, stretch or cotton. It is important that the texture and color match the ribbons.
You can make it much easier for yourself by using a hoop to help you hold the fabric or canvas in your hands. The hoop can be square, triangular or oval. It doesn't really matter - the main thing is that your sketch with the drawing can fit in it entirely.
It will be even more convenient if you try to fix the hoop, for example, on a tripod.
Embroidery needles
The needle for embroidery with ribbons should have a long eye, but the needle itself should be thick.
The tape should pass freely through the eyelet so that nothing obstructs it.
You can find two types of needles in a sewing store - blunt point and sharp point. They are suitable for sewing with wool or yarn. These needles are perfect for ribbon sewing.
In some cases, for example, if you need to attach a 3D motif to the fabric, use a sewing needle. And also sometimes needlewomen use a straw needle, since it has a medium-sized eyelet and medium width.
When sewing with ribbons, you are better off using large scissors, they will come in handy for cutting fabrics. Use small scissors to cut the ribbon or thread.
