You can find the matching cardigan style in knitting magazines. You do not have to independently select shades and patterns, make patterns and calculate the amount of yarn. But what if none of the magazine models appealed to you? Come up with your own style. It's not difficult at all, especially if you decide to knit an openwork cardigan.
Step 2
An airy lace model can be worn over a summer dress or suit, slapped on the beach or on a Sunday walk. For a festive cardigan, a viscose or silk yarn with the addition of lurex is suitable. Knit in natural-toned linen or cotton for a charming, urban safari-style summer piece. Well, the avant-garde outfit will complement a simple cardigan made of dense twisted threads from a mixture of cotton and polyester.
Step 3
Make a pattern. The simplest option is a straight cardigan with rectangular sleeves, reminiscent of a Japanese yukata robe. Take measurements and choose the length of the future product. On a sheet of tracing paper, draw a rectangle whose length is equal to the length of the cardigan, and the width is equal to the half-girth of your hips with an allowance of 4-5 cm. Draw the patterns of the shelves in the same way. To make the cardigan fit nicely on your chest, make a deep V-neck. Choose any width and length of sleeves. For a more airy look, ditch pockets, collars and other details.
Step 4
Calculate the number of loops per centimeter by tying the pattern. The hook number should match the thread thickness. Cast on the desired number of stitches and knit a square pattern formed by double crochets. If you want the cells to be larger, you can knit double crochet stitches. Begin the row with a column, then cast on three chain stitches, skip three chain stitches and knit another stitch. After finishing the row, start the second, staggering the cells. To do this, knit each column of the second row in the middle of the cell.
Step 5
To keep the pattern even, knit tightly, without making too large yarns or pulling the threads. Knit all the details, except for the shelves, evenly, without subtraction. To make bevels for the cutout on the chest, knitting half of the parts of the shelves, gradually reduce the number of loops. In every second row, knit the first two stitches together.
Step 6
After finishing the part, moisten it and pin it on the pattern until it dries. Sew the sleeves, connect the shelves to the back and sew the sleeves into the armholes. Tie narrow, scalloped tape around the edge of the cardigan. The first row of braid consists of single crochet, and the second - of small pico bumps, formed by knitting a chain of two or three air loops. Iron the finished cardigan and try it on.
