You can sew a knitted product by hand knitting or by machine. A manual seam is performed in several ways, depending on its location: horizontally, vertically, or the connection of transversely knitted and lobar fabrics.
Instructions
Step 1
Before assembling the product in any way, the parts must be washed and ironed. This is done to give symmetrical parts the same shape and size. In the absence of experience, it is better to sweep the parts to be joined first.
Step 2
Horizontal knit seams are used when joining hosiery knitted garments, for example, in shoulder seams. To do this, at the end of knitting, the last row is marked, for example, a contrasting thread is threaded. And several additional rows are tied so as not to dissolve the loops when sewing. Before joining, the extra rows are dissolved and the parts are placed strictly opposite each other. The seam itself is performed with a main thread threaded through a needle of the appropriate thickness on the front side of the product.
Step 3
There are two ways to sew a knitted product along vertical seams: "over the edge" with a needle and crochet with a single crochet. A needle, into which the main or other suitable thread is threaded, is connected from the front side of the part from top to bottom, alternately for two broaching arcs between the edge and the first or last loop of the parts.
Step 4
Also, sometimes a hook is used to connect parts. In this case, the parts are folded upside down. From top to bottom, between the edge and the next loop, the first loop is pulled. Then pull out another one from the next row and pull it through the loop that is already on the hook. With this method of connection, the tension of the thread must be adjusted so that the product does not pull together.
Step 5
When sewing in a sleeve, the parts have a different direction of knitting. Therefore, they are connected according to the rules that apply to both types of seam. The side and shoulder seams are pre-made. The extreme front row of the sleeve, which was closed with an auxiliary thread, is unraveled. A needle with a main thread alternately connect the open loop of the sleeve and the arc between the edge and the next loop of the shelves.
