Instructions
Step 1
To draw a still life, prepare soft pastels of different colors, one black hard pastel crayon, and special pastel paper of a uniform shade - for example, beige.
Step 2
Start drawing a still life with a sketch or sketch. Looking at the composition in nature, try to transfer its outline to paper using black pastel chalk. Make the strokes light and subtle, just to bring out the main lines of the drawing.
Step 3
With the side of the yellow pastels, apply the background to the fruit in a warm color scheme. For example, such a background should be applied to red apples, oranges, lemons, tangerines, bananas, and other fruits of the same colors. Fruits with cold shades (grapes, plums), color later.
Step 4
Detail the curves of the fruit using the same yellow pastel background, drawing the lines with a hard tip. Start by drawing the basic colors and highlights, which are necessary for the effect of three-dimensionality in the picture.
Step 5
Complete the drawing of each fruit with the color that prevails in it. Add orange strokes to the orange, red strokes to the banana, and some green strokes to the banana and pear. For the apple, use light red pastels. In the area of the grooves and cuttings, make the colors darker and more saturated.
Step 6
Apply dark tones to all fruits, working with chiaroscuro. Paint the dark areas on the fruit with ocher and purple pastels. Trace the outlines of the grapes with the tip of a black pastel crayon. Separately darken those areas of the fruit that are shaded.
Step 7
Paint over the highlights with white pastels. Make the highlights bright and visible on the fruit, surrounded by a halo of a slightly lighter shade than the fruit as a whole. This is where the side of the pastel chalk comes in handy.
Step 8
Detail the outlines of the fruit, then add shadows and background surfaces.
