Step 1
To learn how to play American billiards, familiarize yourself with some of the features of this game. American billiard tables are the same size. The length of the table is 3.6 m, the width is 1.85 m and the height is 85 cm. The cloth on the tables for the game is made of synthetics. The size of the pockets is the same everywhere and is 88.9 mm, they have a rounded shape. The balls have a diameter of 52.5 mm and are made of plastic.
Some of the designations used in American billiards:
- house - part of the table behind the line;
- point of the house - a point located in the middle of the line;
- from the side - a blow, as a result of which the white ball strikes the one at which the player was aiming after contact with any side;
- roleplaying - a technique that is used when a player cannot make a sensible blow and still not make a mistake.
Step 2
Learn also the basics of playing the game:
- start the game with a white ball;
- the first player owns the hollow balls, and the second - the striped balls;
- Pot your balls and send the order number eight ball.
Step 3
So the American billiards game begins. Set balls other than white in a pyramid shape. Place the ball number eight in the center of the pyramid. Place the colored and hollow balls in turn. Start the game by breaking the pyramid with a white ball from the "house" point.
Step 4
In the first step, either hit one ball, or touch 4 balls to the sides. If this does not happen, an error is logged. In this case, the enemy will break the pyramid again. The enemy will do the same if the white ball rolls overboard. If you pocket the white ball, it will also be a foul. If you pocket the eight, the opponent must collect the pyramid again.
Step 5
On each move, you must pocket the ball or hit the sides with the white ball, or the ball you were aiming at. If the ball falls overboard, it is a mistake.
Step 6
Thus, when playing American billiards, do not make the following mistakes:
- do not hit the aimed ball with the white ball;
- do not hit the pocket with the white ball;
- do not touch your own ball;
- if your opponent makes a wrong move, place the white ball anywhere;
- do not score an eight with violations;
- do not hit the pocket with an eight until you have pocketed all your balls;
- do not knock out the eight by the sides;
- do not score an eight into an unordered pocket;
- do not score an eight with the last ball in play.
