Large-flowered pelargoniums are called royal for a reason. Plants belonging to this group are extremely luxurious, with fantastic beautiful huge flowers that look like butterflies.

Plants are grown in room culture. Only for the summer period they can be taken out (taken out) to the dacha. They feel great on a terrace or balcony. It is important that the royal flowers are protected from wind and rain. Plants are not afraid of heat and bloom beautifully. Closer to autumn, when the first frosts occur, the flowers should be protected from them, covering, for example, with insulating material, or taken to the house for a while.
Landing. Large-flowered pelargoniums will practically grow in any soil. But it is better for them - light humus soil with the addition of about 1/3 of the volume of the container of coarse clean sand and a little charcoal. Coal, acting as an absorbent, will protect plants in case of waterlogging of the soil, to which pelargoniums are very sensitive. At the bottom of the pot, it is better to put not expanded clay, but a crumb of foam, a more neutral material.
Growing royal pelargoniums is preferable in modest-sized pots, rather than spacious ones. An exception is possible only for uterine bushes. In spacious containers, they "fatten" sufficient green mass for cuttings.
Growing. Watering in hot weather. When the air temperature drops, the watering of the plants is reduced accordingly. Top dressing only with mineral fertilizers, for example, "Kemira Lux". Organic fertilizers reduce flowering and promote the growth of greenery, as well as increase the likelihood of disease in plants.

For good flowering, plants are pruned. Since large-flowered pelargoniums lay flower buds in winter, pruning is carried out in August or September. The cut tops are rooted to create new plants.
Why don't royal pelargoniums bloom?
For plants to bloom, they need a cold winter. For this, the plants must be kept cool for seven weeks at a temperature of plus 8-10 ° C. Temperatures below 5 ° C are considered critical for them.
