Step 1
Roses are thermophilic plants, therefore, in the conditions of the north and middle lane, they need shelter for the winter. This applies to all groups, except for park groups. Several factors affect the perfect overwintering of the shrub: varietal and physiological characteristics, a favorably chosen place for planting, care during the growing season and shelter for the winter. Preparation for the winter period is carried out carefully. It is necessary to create conditions for the ripening of the shoots.

So, your roses have received additional hardening, waiting for the temperature to drop to -10 ° C. We begin shelter in dry weather. The microclimate under the shelter should be close to the habitat of roses - low humidity and comfortable temperature, in order to avoid damage to plants by diseases of fungal origin.

Shelter methods
One of the most primitive shelter methods is mulch hilling: dry sawdust, wood chips, foliage, compost. The mulching material must be dry. You should not carry out the hilling technique using the ground under the bush, as you can harm the rose by exposing the roots. Better to bring the soil from another place. For the reliability of insulation, carefully cover with spruce branches.
Step 4
The air-dry method of insulation is the most reliable in comparison with the previous method. The advantage of the method is that good aeration is created under the shelter, there are no obstacles to air circulation, and the temperature under the hood is kept more evenly. The stems of the shrub are pinned to the ground with iron hooks and covered with needles or spruce branches. We install the frame on top - it can be: iron arcs and pegs driven into the ground around the rose, a knocked-down box or ordinary vegetable boxes. As a result, the entire structure is covered with mats in the form of reeds or spruce branches, and then with lutrasil or spunbond. If the temperature does not drop below -20 ºС, it is enough to cover your building with Letrasil. Secure the edges of the covering material with a load to keep it from being blown away by the wind. After the snow falls, sketch out the snow embankments on the insulation frames.

Stamp roses in front of the shelter are bent down, spruce branches or sand are placed under the trunk, pinned with iron hooks, spudded and covered with spruce branches and covering material from above. But older specimens with a lignified stem should not be bent down, there is a high probability of breaking. For these beauties, a frame is installed along the height of the trunk and wrapped with roofing material. Foliage, sawdust or needles are poured into the center, and a plastic bag is put on top of the entire structure, tying everything with twine.

Climbing roses are covered in a bent state, similar to standard ones, and if roses are wrapped around pergolas and gazebos, the plant is simply wrapped with spruce branches and covering material. Then they wrap it up with a rope.
