According to the Chinese, the character and fate of a person largely depends on the year of his birth.

Instructions
Step 1
List the animals in the Chinese horoscope. Note that consistency is important here. The animals are in the following order: rat, bull, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, pig.
Step 2
Determine when the Chinese New Year is in the year of your birth (this is only relevant for those born between January 1 and February 20). Relative to the European solar calendar, the Chinese New Year begins on the first new moon after January 21st. To determine this date in the year of your birth, you need to have a lunar calendar or know when there was a new moon this year after January 21 (Chinese New Year occurs between January 21 and February 20).
Step 3
Take any year as a starting point, for example 1996 - the year of the Rat (this is the first year in a twelve-year cycle). Count forward or backward, depending on your year of birth, from the list of animals and identify your animal. Adjust for the lagging Chinese calendar if you were born between January 1 and February 20. For example, 1996 began on February 19 according to the Chinese calendar, therefore, before this date, the year was determined by the sign of the Pig.
Step 4
Consider the dominant element of your year of birth. In addition, each element has its own color. They alternate in the following order: fire (red), earth (yellow), metal (white), water (blue / black), wood (green). Elements rule the earth for two years each.
Step 5
Take 1996 as a reference, when the first year of the twelve-year cycle coincided with the first year of the element of fire. Thus, 1996-1997 are under the rule of this element and red, respectively, from February 19, 1996, the year of the Red Rat began (1997 was the year of the Red Bull).
Step 6
