Many owners of purebred dogs know that when going for a walk with their pet in winter, it is important to take care that your pet does not freeze. Small as well as smooth-haired dog breeds are most sensitive to cold. In pet stores you can see a huge selection of different clothes for dogs, but the prices for such clothes are sometimes very high. And the jumpsuit you like may not fit at all. Therefore, it is much more profitable and more convenient to sew clothes yourself.
It is necessary
- - collar;
- - pattern;
- - centimeter;
- - pins;
- - scissors;
- - the cloth;
- - clasp;
- - threads and a needle.
Instructions
Step 1
Put the collar on the dog and measure the distance from it to the animal's tail with a centimeter. Divide the resulting number by eight and remember it.
Step 2
Now, on graph paper, draw the same squares in the same way as shown in the figure. The size of one square should be equal to the number that you got when dividing. Redraw the proposed pattern onto the drawn squares and cut it out.
Step 3
Carefully place the cut out pattern on the dog and see if it fits together. If it is too small, remember the places in which you will need to add a little. For convenience, you can cut the pattern in two.
Step 4
Place the cut out on the fabric and carefully trace around it with chalk. To add extra centimeters, stretch the pieces of the pattern by the number of centimeters you need.
Step 5
If your dog has a wide chest, add a small strip equal to a few centimeters on the front of the chest. After you are done with the additions, unfold both parts.
Step 6
Transfer all darts to the second copy. To do this, circle them properly with chalk, carefully attach both parts (make sure that the wrong side is inside) and knock well with your palm in the place where the dart is.
Step 7
Take an old collar and sew a small strip of fabric over it. Just leave the ends of the collar so you can fasten it loosely. Now sew this strip to the fabric where the dog's neck will be. Baste seams and darts together. On the stomach, if you wish, you can add a strip of fabric that will connect the bottom of both parts of the future jumpsuit. This is good for those who make clothes for the dog to grow.
Step 8
Sew all connection details. Be careful on the front legs. To prevent the fabric from forming gathers, make a small cut in the rounded area.
Step 9
Try on your dog what you get. See where it will be necessary to remove excess fabric and where to add it. Where your dog is on the big side, make small pleats or trim off unnecessary lengths.
Step 10
Insert elastic into the sleeves. Use a pin to make it easier to insert. In addition, the elastic can be inserted immediately and the sleeves can be sewn with it.
Step 11
Choose a fastener you can use buttons, zippers, buttons or Velcro. Tie it neatly to your jumpsuit. If it's a zipper, sew on the ends well, otherwise the zipper may come off. If these are buttons, make sure that the loops match the size of the buttons themselves, otherwise you will either not be able to fasten them, or they will constantly unfasten.
Step 12
Put the clothes back on the dog and measure out the area where the dog will go to the toilet. Carefully cut the fabric at this point and sew in a small elastic band. This will tighten the fabric and fit snugly over the dog's body.
