It is necessary

  • - a pattern for clothes;
  • - the cloth;
  • - threads to match.

Instructions

Step 1

Find a jumpsuit pattern based on your dog's size. There are many sites on the Internet that offer clothing patterns for dogs of different breeds, use the simplest one. See what changes you need to make to the pattern to fit your Chihuahua.

Step 2

Lay out the finished pattern on the fabric, circle its outline with chalk, not forgetting to leave room for allowances for seams and hem. Pin off the edges of the fabric with sewing pins. If you will be sewing clothes that will have a zipper on the dog's back, be sure to leave about 1 cm of seam allowance. When sewing overalls for a dog, you can also use Velcro and buttons. Leave enough fabric for the seams to overlap in a strip 2-5 cm wide, depending on the size of the dog.

Step 3

Pin the paired pieces together so that the fabric does not move during cutting. If you are sewing a jumpsuit for your Chihuahua with an insulated lining, then cut out the lining in the same way as the outer layer. It is swept and sewn in the same way as the outside of the jumpsuit.

Step 4

Add a layer of padding polyester to the jumpsuit and cut it exactly according to the pattern, do not make allowances for the seams. Baste the padding polyester to the lining. After that, the lining with padding polyester and the outer layer are folded with the wrong sides to each other and sewn at all contact points. Turn the jumpsuit inside out so the seams are inside and try your first fitting. Be sure to remove the pins from the product.

Step 5

Make sure that the overalls sit loosely on the dog, the sleeves do not cut into the legs, and the collar is not too wide so that the animal does not fall out of the overalls. If the garment is too loose, make a Velcro strap at the waist.

Step 6

Correct any defects. Do not forget that the fabric for the jumpsuit should be insulated in the back and chest area, sleeves can be made without insulation so that the dog can move freely. Sew all the basted seams with the sewing machine.
