To sew the simplest heating pad for a mug, you will need a little chintz (satin, tapestry, other fabric with an interesting pattern are also suitable), threads, a piece of braid (or a narrow satin ribbon, lace), a button (1-3 pieces depending on the height mugs and your wishes).
1. Measure the mug for which the heating pad is intended (height and girth).
if you are an inexperienced craftsman, choose a strictly cylindrical mug.
Build a pattern by your measurements. The simplest pattern for a heating pad for a mug is a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the girth of your mug, the width is equal to the height of the mug.
2. Cut out two rectangles (the outside of the heating pad and the lining). If it seems to you that the fabric is too thin and the warmer for the mug will not keep warm, also make an inner layer of felt or woolen fabric, fleece). Please note that when cutting out the outer part of the heating pad and the lining, one must not forget about the seam allowance (about 0.5-1.5 cm), but the insulation must be cut out without an allowance.
3. Fold the two main parts of the heating pad right side to each other and sew them on a typewriter, leaving one side (equal to the height of the mug) unstitched. Turn the resulting bag inside out and sew the last side by hand with a blind seam. During the sewing process, insert the edges of the tape folded in half into the seam and secure them in the seam to create a buttonhole, as in the photo.
If necessary, put an inner layer (insulation) into the heating pad before stitching the last seam.
4. Place the mug in your garment and locate the exact place to sew on the button. The heating pad on the cup should be tight enough.
5. The clothes for the mug are ready. If desired, decorate it with embroidery, unusual buttons, applique.
