Sometimes, listening to this or that melody, there is a desire to either cut out a certain fragment from it, or, conversely, add it. Special programs come to the rescue. One of these is the Gold Wave utility, which is designed for editing music.
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to run the Gold Wave program (if, of course, you have it installed, otherwise download it, this program is absolutely free). Then open the sound file you need in it. To do this, use the following sequence of actions: in the "File" menu, select "Open". Then select the desired folder, find the required file there, specify it and open it.
Step 2
In the Gold Wave window, after opening a music composition, a graphic image of your song will appear in the form of a track. To enlarge it, use the Loupe + tool. And if you need, on the contrary, to reduce, use the "Loupe-" tool. If you need to listen to a certain segment of the melody, click on it, right-click, and select "Play from here" from the menu. There is an alternative option - there are 2 buttons on the toolbar. The one with the green triangle is “Start”, and the one with the blue square is “Pause”.
Step 3
In order to go directly to the very process of "cutting" a melody, determine the piece of the music track that you want to separate. After that, you need to decide on the boundaries of the "unnecessary" piece. To do this, first you need to click at the beginning of this fragment, press the right mouse button and select the "Set start" item in the menu. The part that remains is now highlighted in dark. What will be deleted remains unchanged and is not selected.
Step 4
Then set the end border. This is done in the same way as in the previous paragraph, the only difference is that you need to select the item "Set the end". To directly perform the operation of separating a sound fragment, select the "Scissors" tool on the toolbar in the menu above the sound track.
