Gladioli have become commonplace in our gardens. They are loved by many for their majesty and beauty. Flower growers have to plant them with bulbs or children every spring. Not everyone succeeds in saving the bulbs, since during storage in winter they dry out and get sick. We either have to go buy or plant what we have. There is another way - to divide the corm into parts.
Instructions
Step 1
Two weeks before the planned planting in the ground, we take out the corms, inspect and peel them. We do this carefully so as not to damage the awakened sprouts. This allows the culling of diseased and completely unusable bulbs. If scab or wireworm sores come across, use the sharp tip of a knife to remove them to healthy tissue. Treat these places with ordinary brilliant green.
Step 2
We start dividing the corms. We take an onion in our hands and examine how many eyes (sprouts) there are on it. We divide it vertically with a sharp knife, cut it into several parts so that each has a peephole and a part of the bottom. We process the cut surface with brilliant green.
Step 3
Dry the processed sections, letting the bulbs lie down for a while. The knife must be disinfected after each cut with alcohol or other disinfectant! You can treat the sections with alcohol, ash, slaked lime.
Step 4
The day before planting the corms, we treat with potassium permanganate (1 g per 10 liters of water) or with the preparation "Maxim". If the bulbs are weak, dry, they can be soaked in stimulants, trace elements.
