What will warm your feet the best in the cold Russian winters? Real wool socks, of course. Especially if they are tied with your hands. These socks can also be a good gift. And if you knit socks for the baby, then he will wear them with pleasure instead of house slippers, and you will save him from colds. The most difficult knot in making socks is the heel, but even a beginner knitter is quite capable of knitting this part.

It is necessary

  • - 5 spokes;
  • - Knitting.

Instructions

Step 1

If you knitted socks on five knitting needles, after knitting the top of the sock with elastic, move the loops from the 3rd and 4th knitting needles to one and continue knitting with two knitting needles and purl rows. The length of the straight section should be equal to the height of the heel. Usually this size ranges from 3 to 7 centimeters, depending on the size of the socks.

Step 2

To form the heel itself, divide the number of loops of the straight section by 3. Let's say the straight section is tied by 18 loops. Then on the lateral parts of the heel and its middle part there will be 6 loops each. If the number of loops for the heel is not a multiple of three, then add the remainder to the middle part. For example, a straight section is connected by 20 loops. In this case, the side parts of the heel are 6, the middle part is 8 loops.

Step 3

Start decreasing the inside of the canvas as follows. Knit the entire right side and mid heel with knit stitches. Knit the last loop from the middle part and the first loop of the left part together with the front one. Leave the rest of the loops untied. Flip knitting.

On the seamy side of the sock, knit all the loops with the seamy side. Continuing to decrease, knit the last loop of the middle part and the first loop of the left side part together with a purl loop. Turn knit over. Repeat the decrements until only the middle stitches remain on the spoke. You should get a heel cap.

Step 4

From the hem loops of the side portions of the tied heel, cast on the loops to continue knitting the sock. Divide the knitting into 4 knitting needles and knit further with circular knitting. As a result of the edging set, the number of loops may exceed the original one. In this case, they should be evenly reduced. To do this, in every second row of circular knitting, knit 2 loops together with the front one on the third and fourth knitting needles, that is, on the side parts of the sock. It should be reduced until the number of loops is equal to the initial one. The result of such reductions should be a small wedge for lifting the foot.
