The charming and ageless actor Dmitry Kharatyan has remained a favorite of the female audience since his youth. But in life he is far from the image of a womanizer or a seducer. The first experience of creating a family, which happened during his student years, was unsuccessful. But Kharatyan approached the second marriage thoroughly and for several years tested his feelings with his new lover. Fortunately, Dmitry and his future wife Marina passed this test and since then have remained inseparable for more than 30 years.
Early start
The future actor was born on January 21, 1960 in the territory of modern Uzbekistan. But Dmitry did not live long in a hot climate. At the age of one, his parents transported him to Lipetsk, and in 1963 they finally settled in Krasnogorsk near Moscow. On the part of his father, Vadim Kharatyan, the star of Russian cinema has Armenian roots. Dmitry valued his origin so much that he even insisted on indicating the Armenian nationality in his first Soviet-style passport.
When the boy was 6 years old, his parents broke up. As a child, Kharatyan was fond of sports and showed interest in amateur performances, playing the guitar in a school ensemble. As often happens, he found himself in the acting profession by accident. In the 10th grade, Dmitry went to Mosfilm for company with a good friend. The girl dreamed of getting a role in the film "The Joke", which the director Vladimir Menshov was going to shoot. Kharatyan also auditioned and was photographed for the casting.
As a result, he was approved for the main role - high school student Igor Grushko. The film turned out to be successful, the audience loved it. And Dmitry wanted to make acting his main profession. True, two attempts to enter the Shchukin Theater School ended in failure. And only in 1978 Kharatyan managed to become a student of the Shchepkinsky school.
In parallel, he continued to act in films. Studying at the institute brought changes to the personal life of the young actor. He met a final year student Marina Burimova. When the girl became pregnant, Dmitry took her to the registry office. Alexander's daughter was born on the same day as her father - January 21, 1984, and they also have the same year according to the Eastern calendar. Kharatyan's first marriage did not last long. One of the reasons for the divorce in 1988 was the actor's addiction to alcohol.
Long road to the registry office
Meanwhile, Dmitry's career was gaining momentum. After graduating from drama school in 1982, due to filming, he missed assignment to the theater, so he decided to focus on working in cinema. In 1983 "Green Van" was released, where the actor performed several songs for the first time. His next triumph was the painting "Midshipmen, forward!" (1987), which still remains Dmitry's calling card.
Fleeing from alcohol addiction, Kharatyan “coded” and did not touch alcohol for three years. During that period, he met his future second wife - actress Marina Maiko. In 1989 Dmitry came to Odessa to shoot the comedy "Private detective, or Operation" Cooperation "by Leonid Gaidai. After the success of the midshipmen, he was at the height of his popularity. The young debutante Marina Maiko also arrived in the port city. She was only 19 years old. In the recent past, the girls won the Miss Tiraspol-88 contest and took part in the competition for the Miss USSR title. The young beauty studied at the correspondence department of the Pedagogical Institute. Marina ended up in Odessa at the invitation of director Alexander Zeldovich, who approved the aspiring actress for the main role in the film "Sunset".
Kharatyan and Maiko lived in the same tourist complex, where they met. Love at first sight did not happen between them. The future spouses grew closer gradually, spent time in a common company, talked. Only by the end of the trip, both of them realized that there was sympathy between them. After leaving Odessa, Dmitry and Marina met several more times and decided not to part anymore.
For almost 8 years, the lovers lived in a civil marriage. Kharatyan dragged his way to the registry office. He was embarrassed by the 10-year age difference with Marina. In addition, he was afraid of repeating the past bad experience, he wanted to test his feelings with time. When Dmitry's problems with alcohol resumed, the young lady courageously supported him in the fight against harmful addiction. As a result, he was able to return to a sober lifestyle.
Twice the couple applied to the registry office, but each time there was a reason to postpone the registration. Maiko recalled that in this regard, she was constantly pressured by her parents brought up in traditional ideas about the family. And she did not really feel at home in Moscow, not being an official wife. The lovers even parted, after which Marina returned home to Tiraspol. But Dmitry returned her after a short separation.
Kharatyan's second wedding turned out to be chaotic and modest. The actor practically confronted the bride with the fact that they were going to the registry office. The groom invited his friend - singer Garik Sukachev to the role of a witness. The joyful event was celebrated with friends at Pavel Kaplevich's dacha, and then at the Kino club, where Dmitry served as art director. True, Marina regrets a little that she never tried on a traditional wedding dress. Therefore, she dreams of arranging a magnificent celebration on the 25th anniversary of her marriage.
An exemplary family
Shortly after registering the relationship, Maiko found out about the pregnancy. She gave her husband a son, Ivan, on March 9, 1998. By the way, Dmitry invited his close friend, director Yuri Moroz, to play the role of his godfather. Now the heir to Kharatyan is already quite an adult young man. He studied at a Russian school in Malta, then entered the institute at the directing department. As a child, Ivan starred in the role of little Andersen in the film “Andersen. Life without love”by Eldar Ryazanov, but he did not want to start an acting dynasty.
Kharatyan has been happy in his second marriage for over 20 years. Over the years, the couple of Marina and Dmitry have never given a reason to doubt the strength of their union. Only once did information appear in the press about the illegitimate child of a famous actor, but a genetic test confirmed that this information was unreliable. Marina believes that the secret of marital longevity is the manifestation of emotions. She is sure that there is no constant idyll in a relationship, and if people are not indifferent to each other, they will certainly quarrel, make peace, defend their opinion.
After getting married, Maiko abandoned her acting ambitions. She devoted herself to home, everyday life and raising her son, and also helps her beloved husband in some organizational matters. And if at the beginning of the relationship Marina was rather jealous, now she calmly reacts to the attention of fans directed to Dmitry. By the way, at all social events, the spouses invariably appear together. Kharatyan's wife jokes about this that they have long ceased to be a perfectly matching puzzle, but have turned into a real "monolith".
