The most common genre of fine art is portrait. Let's try, in stages, to figure out how to make a successful portrait.

Step 1
Layout. We place the face on the sheet, designate it with a circle. You can sketch out the hair and neck, and then start building.
Step 2
By dividing the head in half, we find the line of the eyes. Then we mark the middle line (to deal with the turn)
Step 3
Using a pencil, we measure how much the nose fits in the head, we do the same with each part of the face. If you know the proportional laws, you can spend much less time building. Do not put pressure on the pencil, it is better to make the construction easy.
Step 4
The next step is tone. Can easily cover the whole head. Having identified the light source, make the shadow areas with dense strokes.
Step 5
Gradually picking up the tone. We clarify the size and shape of parts of the face, emphasize the volume with the help of tone. After completing all the light and shade moments, we proceed to reflexes and penumbra.
Step 6
Detailing. We do all the little things, emphasize bright moments, generalize overly flashy ones. We check the planning. This is the final stage, the more time you spend on it, the more convincing the work will be.
