Step 1
Decide on a topic. Your best bet is to write about what really excites you. If you take a topic that is popular, but not personally interesting to you, then, most likely, the story will turn out to be boring.

Think over the plot. Authors who write stories without thinking about the ending are either graphomaniacs or geniuses. Most likely, you do not consider yourself a graphomaniac. It's good if you are a genius. But it's better to play it safe and take the story responsibly. From the very beginning, you should know in which direction your hero is moving, and what goals he pursues. Most importantly, you need to know what you want to say with your story.
Step 3
Come up with a capacious and intriguing tie. If you are writing for people and not for yourself, you need to learn how to grab the reader's attention from the first paragraphs. Named writers can afford to describe a dilapidated house on the first page of a ten-page story. Newbies do not have such privileges. Neither Internet users nor magazine editors will read a work by an unknown author if they were not interested in it from the very beginning.
Step 4
Write an unexpected ending. A predictable ending can ruin the best story. Surprise the reader, shock him, and he will look forward to your next piece.
Step 5
Consider the motivation of the characters. You must be able to justify any of their actions. If you cannot do this, then the reader will certainly not be able to. And if he does not understand the logic of the story, then, most likely, he will stop reading it.
Step 6
Reread the story you wrote. Chances are good that you will find inconsistencies and stylistic flaws. Correct them. Reread it again. You may have missed some mistakes … Correct and read until you are satisfied with the story.
Step 7
Give your piece to someone you trust to taste. Perhaps he will see errors in the text that you did not pay attention to. Only after this revision can your manuscript be submitted to readers or editors.
