Each author, like the hero of any story, goes through his own path of formation. He is looking for his style, his audience, his stories that he wants to tell people. On this path, the author encounters obstacles and achievements, defeats and discoveries. Once you step into the path of an author, you will take a few initial steps and start writing stories.

Instructions

Step 1

The first thing you need to decide on in order to write stories is to understand why you are writing. Maybe you want fame and money? Or is it your job? Or is it your hobby, you relax, get inspired and just can't help but write? Motivation is what will support you along the path of the author. Therefore, it is important to realize what exactly you are writing stories for.

Step 2

The second thing to deal with is your fears. Are you afraid of publicity? Publicity is associated with openness: by telling your stories, you open up to strangers and run the risk of meeting different reactions.

This may be ignoring your creativity or, conversely, open aggression towards you. It is important to think in advance about the strategy of your behavior in each situation.

A pseudonym will help to cope with the fear of publicity. Fear of being ignored is your motivation. With the fear of aggression - self-confidence and distance from the aggressors.

Step 3

The third thing to decide is what to write about. You can start simple. Write about what you encounter in your daily life: your journey to work, household chores, what kind of people you meet and how they impress you, etc.

It is important that your stories evoke emotional involvement and experiences for you. It is necessary to write about what personally hooked you. Then the chances are great that your story will hook other people.

In order not to spread thoughts along the tree, it is necessary to set one definite vector to history. As a rule, this is the vector of the hero's change. After going through the story, you, and your reader, and the hero of the story change. They learn something new, gain experience, become a little different. Before you start writing your story, ask yourself the question: what problem will the hero solve and how will he change as a result?

Step 4

The fourth thing to do to start writing stories is to make writing a habit. You need to make time and space for yourself when you purposefully sit down and immerse yourself in your stories. It should only be your time. You need to add it to your schedule.

Write regularly, but don't write out to the bottom. Hemingway also wrote: when I finish writing, I know how I will continue tomorrow. Stop early. This will keep your inspiration for a long time.

Step 5

The fifth thing to do is edit. No self-respecting author can do without it. For the text to sound good and read easily, you need to work on it.

To clean up the weak points of the text, read it out loud. You will immediately feel where you stumble or lose the thread of history.

Make sure there is a picture behind your text. Describe the story from the point of view of the senses: what you see, what you hear, feel, what smells surround you, and so on.

Read books where experienced authors tell you how to write stories. Look for authors whose style you admire, read them as much as possible, analyze their texts, look for techniques that you could borrow. Expand your vocabulary constantly.

Get yourself an editor. Maybe for a start it will be your friend or mom. A person who can read your story, suggest how to improve it, show it to you from a different angle, extract additional meanings from it. Then the story will sparkle with new colors for you, will involve you even more in itself and, as a result, will find an even greater response from the audience.
