Step 1
Choose the style you want to compose in. The choice will depend on the toolkit that you will learn when composing. The main directions of music are academic (classical), pop-jazz, electronic and folk. Listen to works in each of these directions, take an interest in styles and genres.
Step 2
Study the toolkit of the chosen direction. Hear works performed by him. In electronic music, as a rule, all music is played on a synthesizer or midi instrument, so be guided by the names of the samples and the use of plug-ins.
Step 3
Learn the history of the destination. In order not to forget anything, write a synopsis, dividing the eras, countries and genres.
Step 4
Sing and play Solfeggio pieces and exercises. Write one-part, two-part, three-part dictations for the development of hearing.
Step 5
Read textbooks on harmony, polyphony, and composition, analyzing acoustic and technical techniques. Consider the technical capabilities of the tools.
