A light box is a lamp, behind one of the walls of which there is a poster or banner. When the lamps of the luminaire work, it is illuminated from the inside. Such a device can be used not only for advertising purposes, but as an element of the interior of an ordinary living space.

How to make a light box

It is necessary

  • - a wooden box for vegetables;
  • - light sheet metal;
  • - brackets;
  • - sockets for bulbs;
  • - energy saving light bulbs;
  • - fuse holder and fuse;
  • - soldering iron, solder and neutral flux;
  • - an electric cord with a plug;
  • - plexiglass;
  • - screws with nuts;
  • - pliers;
  • - screwdriver;
  • - drill.

Instructions

Step 1

Ask a grocery store or grocery market for a plastic vegetable crate. In this case, it is unacceptable to use a wooden box as a housing for a light box. Cover the sides of the box with sheet metal that reflects light well.

Step 2

Attach four E14 or E27 bulb holders to the L-shaped brackets inside the housing. The axes of the cartridges must be parallel to the bottom of the box.

Step 3

Attach the fuse holder to another bracket inside the box. Install a 2 amp fuse to it. Make a notch in one of the sheets of metal to allow the power cord to exit.

Step 4

Connect the lampholders in parallel, then connect the fuse holder in series with this circuit, connect the power cord with the plug at the opposite end. Take measures to prevent damage to its insulation from sharp edges of metal sheets, especially at the point of entry.

Step 5

Screw four energy-saving bulbs with a maximum power of 8W into the sockets. Their cap types must match the type of chuck you are using.

Step 6

Purchase or make your own poster in the correct size. It should be made of lightweight paper so that light can pass through it well. There should be no images on its back. However, if desired, a mirror image of the desired pattern can be applied to it on the reverse side to obtain an interesting effect: it will be superimposed on the main one only in the presence of light, and with the light box turned off, it will not manifest itself in any way.

Step 7

Cut the poster to fit the box. Cut two sheets of clear plexiglass to the same dimensions. Place the poster in between. Put the "sandwich" of plexiglass sheets and a poster on the box over the lamps. Secure it with four screws and nuts.

Step 8

Turn on the light box and check that it is functional. Keep it turned on and supervised for several hours to make sure it doesn't overheat. Then place it where you want it, such as a closet.
