Patchwork box

For the base of the box, you will need a box of chocolates of an unusual shape: the more interesting the shape of the box, the more spectacular the finished box will look. To make a pattern, all sides of the box are outlined with a pencil, taking into account the seam allowances. Bright scraps of fabric are cut into strips about 5 cm wide, combined with each other in the right order, sewn on a sewing machine and carefully ironed out the seams.

From the seamy side, the upholstery of the box is glued with non-woven material, and decorative machine stitches are laid on the front side at the junction of the strips. The pattern of the base of the box is laid on the prepared upholstery material, the details are marked taking into account the fold of the fabric for trimming the sides, the corners are cut out and neatly covered.

Patchwork upholstery is pulled over the box and its lid, with the help of textile glue, the fabric is fixed in the corners and on the sides of the box. The finished product is decorated with beads, bows, textile flowers.

Round box

To make a round box, you will need thick cardboard, PVA glue and beautiful scraps of fabric. A circle is drawn on the cardboard, the diameter of which corresponds to the size of the bottom of the future casket. To make the walls, you need a cardboard rectangle, the length of which is equal to the circumference of the bottom, of arbitrary height.

The rectangle is connected into a ring, after which they are glued to the base of the future box with strips of paper tape. A piece of the selected fabric is carefully smoothed with an iron and, using PVA glue and a soft brush, is glued to the walls and bottom of the box. In order to make the walls more durable, another rectangle of a slightly smaller size is cut out of the cardboard, pasted over with a cloth of the same or contrasting colors and placed inside the box, fixing with glue.

To make a lid, a circle is cut out of cardboard, the diameter of which is equal to the circumference of the bottom of the box and a thin strip, with whose help the side of the lid will be formed. The parts are connected together with paper tape, a layer of foam rubber or padding polyester is glued onto the finished lid and pasted over with a cloth. In order to mask the joints and strengthen the lid side, from the outside of the lid, it is pasted over with an additional strip of cardboard with a cloth.

The finished box is decorated with ribbons, curly braid, lace or embroidered with beads. If, before pasting the cardboard blank, a thin layer of foam rubber is sewn to the fabric and quilted with rhombuses or rectangles, you can get a very beautiful, voluminous upholstery, which gives the box an original look.
