Any housewife has a lot of all kinds of small things that need to be stored somewhere. The ideal solution is a box. And a completely natural desire is to decorate it so that it creates a certain comfort in the house and pleases the eye. Many decorate boxes with colored paper with pictures, decorate with beads, braid, etc. But the easiest way is to cover the box with fabric? and it will turn into a beautiful box.
It is necessary
Box, cloth, centimeter, scissors, glue
Instructions
Step 1
Pick up a regular, sturdy shoebox with a lid. The lid should not fit snugly against the box. Choose a fabric that will blend in harmoniously with the interior of your room. The fabric needs approximately one meter.
Step 2
The fabric should be tight, but not heavy. Thin and slippery fabric will be difficult to work with. Spread it with liquid glue so that it does not slip on the surface. First, apply glue to the piece and let it dry. Make sure it doesn't stain the fabric.
Step 3
Measure the horizontal perimeter and height of your box. Make allowances of 2.5 cm to the outer edges of the box and cut a rectangle out of the fabric according to the dimensions obtained. Next, you need to measure the bottom of the box and cut out a rectangle according to its size.
Step 4
Start by wrapping the sides. To do this, spread glue or glue stick on the long side of your box. Gently leaving 2.5 cm seam allowances, attach the fabric. So, in turn, glue all the sides, smoothing the fabric with a soft, dry sponge. Tuck the allowance at the edge of the box and glue it.
Step 5
Place the box upside down on a tabletop and glue the allowances to the bottom. First on the short sides, then on the long ones. Fold the corners of the allowances diagonally. Completely glue the outside of the bottom of the box with glue and glue the part that you previously prepared. Smooth to remove wrinkles.
Step 6
To glue the lid, you need to measure it and cut a rectangle out of the fabric of the appropriate size. Do not forget to make allowances of 2.5 cm. Grease the lid with glue and glue the fabric on it. Bending the corners, paste over the sides. Tucking up the allowances, glue them from the inside. If you wish, you can lay out the sides and bottom of the box from the inside with cardboard pasted over with a cloth.
Step 7
If you need to cover a round box with fabric, then cut and glue the allowances for the rounded edge of the box. Make cuts at equal intervals at the top and bottom. The rest of the fabric wrapping technology is the same as for a rectangular box.
Step 8
For a round box lid, cut a circle of fabric with a diameter of 2.5 cm larger than the lid. Stick to the top side. After making cuts, glue the allowances, bending over the edges. A well-dried box is ready to store various things in it.
