Not all boxes are made of material that would allow them to be used as gift wrapping. Sometimes a container that is suitable in shape and size may turn out to be ugly, and therefore unsuitable for use. You can solve the problem by covering any box with cloth.

Instructions
Step 1
Make a fabric sheathing pattern. It should be a scan of your box. For example, to cover a square box, measure its side and draw four identical squares touching the sides, and two more for the bottom and lid. Add 1.5 cm of seam allowances on all sides of the pattern.
Step 2
Cut out the fabric and use an iron to iron all hem (along the seam line) to the wrong side.
Step 3
Try attaching the fabric to the box with glue. Look for a special compound that is suitable specifically for the fabric - any other will appear on the surface as spots.
Step 4
Apply glue with a stiff brush to the entire area of the box. If you only make glue "seams" around the perimeter, they will be noticeable after drying. Spread over one side of the box and gently place the material on it. Smooth it out from the center outward, smoothing out the wrinkles and removing air bubbles. When one side is ready, start processing the next. Do not grease the box with too much glue - it can warp the finish.
Step 5
You can also sew the fabric with a “back needle” seam using a gypsy needle. Mark the puncture points on the fabric in advance with a pencil so that the stitches are of the same length. If the box is very tight, transfer this marking to its sides and make holes with an awl. Then sew around the box, picking up threads equal in thickness to the diameter of the puncture.
Step 6
The edges of the fabric can also be sewn on the front side with any decorative stitch. Be especially careful when choosing the color and texture of the threads in this case, because they should become an additional decoration. You can also hide the seam by sewing a row of beads or sequins over it, or by gluing a thin ribbon of a matching color on top.
Step 7
If the style of the box allows it, attach the material with a furniture stapler. Place the staples evenly apart or in a solid line. Bend the edges of the wire protruding from the back of the box.
