The feathering on the arrows is necessary to stabilize the flight so that the arrow flies directly to the target without deviating or turning over in the process. It is best to use goose feathers for plumage.
It is necessary
- - goose feathers;
- - a sharp knife;
- - glue "Moment";
- - threads;
- - a needle.
Instructions
Step 1
The plumage of the arrow will consist of three goose feathers, which will stand to each other at an angle of 120 degrees. In order to start making feathers for arrows, take a goose feather. Looking at it, you will notice that one side of the feather is somewhat narrower than the other. Take a pair of scissors or a sharp knife and cut a narrow section of the feather along the shaft. For one arrow, you will need the wide pieces of three goose feathers.
Step 2
At each part of the future feathering of the arrow, cut the rod so that about one centimeter remains before the beginning of the pile. Cut the end of the feather, where the shaft becomes narrower, by about five millimeters. Next, cut another five millimeters from this side, but without touching the rod anymore, in this place there will be a rewinding of the tail.
Step 3
Take the shaft of the arrow and three prepared feathers. Adjust the feathers so that the thin ends of the feathers do not reach the end of the boom by about one centimeter. Set the feathers so that there are 120-degree angles between them, with one feather parallel to the arrow shaft.
Step 4
Prepare the threads. While holding the feathers with one hand, grab the thread, and then pass it under one of the feathers so that the length of the skipped end is ten centimeters. Without cutting the thread, wind the feather shafts around the shaft of the arrow. Tie a knot with the skipped end.
Step 5
Take a thread 40 centimeters long, insert the thread into the needle, but do not tie a knot, as the feathers should be sewn to the arrow in one thread. Tie one end of the thread to either feather at the base where the rewind ends. Tape the feathers along the entire length, the distance from stitch to stitch should be one centimeter. Try not to break the villi. With the rest of the thread, secure the feathers at the thin end.
Step 6
Take the glue and carefully glue the feathers along with rewinding to the arrow shaft, do not get the glue on the pile itself, otherwise the feathers may break when firing.
Step 7
Using scissors or a sharp knife, shape the feathers into a tapered shape extending from the arrowhead.
Step 8
The feathering for the arrows is ready!
