Instructions

Step 1

Before you start drawing, come up with and write down the outline and plot of your comic. There must be a plot in comics, otherwise they turn into simple drawings devoid of meaning. Think over the storyline in advance and write down possible remarks, as well as come up with the images of the main characters.

Step 2

Sketch a storyboard for the future comic to help you figure out what to draw in each frame. Draw the images of the main characters in advance, forming their style.

Step 3

If you want to draw a serious, detailed comic, use A3 sheets. For a simpler comic, A4 sheet is suitable.

Step 4

Start your comic with preparatory pencil sketches, which should be done neatly and subtly. Draw out the sheet into sectors, draw borders at 0.5-1 cm, depending on the size of the sheet.

Step 5

First, sketch out the composition of each frame, and only then start detailing and drawing. The picture should be easy to read from the frame, and some of its elements for greater impact can go beyond the frame (for example, explosions).

Step 6

Having completely drawn all the frames with a pencil, start processing them. To do this, use ink and paint if you are going to color and contour drawings by hand. The ink liner will be of great help in outlining the contours - it allows you to draw thin and clear lines with ink.

Step 7

You can also use various types of poster pens. After sketching and coloring the comic, you need to scan it at 300 dpi and finish processing in Photoshop.

Step 8

After scanning, the drawing will certainly contain some amount of defects and debris - remove these defects by zooming in on the drawing and using a small hard-edged eraser. In the Select> color range section, click on any white area of the picture to select all the white areas of the file, and then press Delete.

Step 9

On the computer, finish creating the comic by inscribing cues in the frames in pre-prepared forms or clouds.
