Hyacinth is a rather capricious flower. In order to grow hyacinths at home, you need to create an ideal habitat for them, and only then will your pets take root and delight you with beautiful flowers.
It is necessary to grow hyacinths from bulbs that have passed a dormant period. They should be no more than 7 centimeters in diameter. In order for the hyacinth to bloom, say, by the New Year, its bulbs must be planted in September-October.
Planting hyacinth
Planting hyacinths at home is actually not that difficult. Remember that the hyacinth bulbs must not touch the bottom. They need to be pressed a little into the ground, and the tops should be left in the air. A vase is best suited for growing hyacinths. Add a small amount of sand to the soil and plant hyacinth bulbs in them. After planting, the dormant period should last for about 2 months.
The temperature in the room should be no more than 7-10 degrees. You should also cover the onion with black paper, put the box on the balcony or loggia, as well as in the basement.
To plant hyacinths, you need pots, any other bowls or boxes with drainage holes. The size of the drain holes should be of medium size.
At the very bottom of the pots, you need to pour drainage, then a small layer of sand and only after that the soil mixture. After the hyacinth bulbs have developed roots and small sprouts, it is best to move them to a room that is about 15 degrees.
Hyacinth care during the flowering period
Remember that hyacinths love places that are well lit. Place the flower in a bright place and away from heating appliances. Watering hyacinths should be regular, but the earth should not suffer from excessive moisture. Remember to constantly turn the flower pot over. Only then will it grow evenly. For feeding, you can use special substances.
Blooming hyacinths at home
This plant blooms for about 10-14 days. In the event that you put a pot of hyacinth in a cool room overnight, flowering can be extended for 5-10 days.
After the hyacinths have faded, remove the peduncle, but do not cut the leaves straight away.
In the future, feed and water the bulbs for a month. Only then reduce watering to a minimum. After the leaves wither and dry, then they can be removed and the hyacinth taken to a dark place.
