Lily is one of the most beautiful plants to bloom indoors in fall, early spring and even winter.
It is necessary
- - lily bulbs;
- - small diameter flower pots;
- - nutritious loose substrate.
Instructions
Step 1
The planting time for lily bulbs depends on when you want to get the flower. Some types of lilies, such as Thunberg, tiger, coral or saffron, bloom 40-80 days after sprouting, and long-flowered ones - after 6 months, so you need to find out these dates in advance and plan the planting.
Step 2
Pick up 3- or 4-year-old bulbs for forcing. They should be large and firm to the touch.
Step 3
Dig up the bulbs in the fall or purchase them from your garden supply store. Process in a solution of potassium permanganate and plant in pots. If it is not possible to plant them immediately or you want to receive flowers by a certain date, then you can postpone planting. Place the planting material in wet sand, wrap everything in plastic wrap and store in the basement
Step 4
Winter blooms can be obtained from bulbs that have been stored in the basement until summer. In June or July, plant them in small pots with a diameter of about 16 cm and dig in the garden, and in the fall bring them into the apartment, the lilies will bloom in late November or December.
Step 5
If you need the lily to bloom in spring, then plant the bulbs immediately after digging, put them in a cool place for 1, 5 months so that they take root. And in November - early December, bring the pots with plantings into a warm, bright room.
Step 6
Water the soil as the top layer in the pot dries, increasing the amount of water as the plants grow. To speed up flowering, gradually increase the temperature to 30 degrees and additionally light up the lilies. Conversely, if you want the flower to bloom later, place it in a cooler room.
