Indoor geraniums are all types of pelargoniums that can be grown at home. With proper care, it blooms all year round, therefore it is widespread in the homes of amateur flower growers.

Step 1
To plant indoor geraniums in your home, cut the stem cut from the lateral or apical shoots of an adult plant. The stalk should have 2-3 leaves, the optimal length is 5-7 cm. Leave the stalk without water for several hours, then powder the cut with crushed charcoal.
Step 2
Plant the geraniums in a small pot with regular garden soil. If it is not possible to plant pelargonium immediately in a permanent place, root the cutting in coarse sand, and then transplant it into a pot. Planting is best done at a temperature of 20-22 ° C in summer or spring. Do not use phytohormones or cover the stalk with a cap, spray the leaves.
Step 3
Indoor geranium does not like too damp soil, so plant it in slightly damp soil, water it in the edge of the pot. If water gets on the leaves and stems, the geranium can rot and die. In winter, geraniums practically do not require watering, and in summer water as the soil dries up.
Step 4
Place the pot of geraniums on a well-lit window; the plant will not bloom in a dark place. Cover the pot from direct sunlight only on the hottest days.
Step 5
To improve the flowering of geraniums, pinch young shoots when they have 4-5 pairs of leaves. Leave a few lower leaves. Pruning is best done in autumn or spring, when the shoots are strongly stretched. The exception to this rule is royal pelargoniums; this species has large flowers without any pruning.
Step 6
Remove yellowed leaves and stems of flowers with a sharp knife or scissors. Breaking off can cause stem rot, especially in cool, humid air.
Step 7
In winter, try to arrange a dormant period for pelargonium - put the pot in a cool place (temperature 10-15 ° C and minimal watering). It is necessary to feed geraniums with potash fertilizers with a low nitrogen content.
