An unusual material for needlework is bird feathers. At first glance, it is difficult to imagine what can be made from the most common bird feathers. In fact, in modern life there are many options for their use. This is one of the interesting creative processes.
To bend a long feather beautifully and give it an unusual shape, you need to hold the rod with your thumbs and forefingers and make a bend without breaking the feather. The number of bends depends on what kind of bend you want to make: the smaller the distance between the bends, the stronger the bend, and vice versa: the greater the distance, the smaller the bend.
In the same way, you can make a spiral from a feather.
Another way to get a spiral is to wind it on a curling iron.
A nondescript feather can be trimmed beautifully. For example, we make cuts in the barbs at right angles to the rod, the distance between them is arbitrary, just like we make symmetrical cuts on the other side of the feather shaft along the rod. With two fingers we easily draw and remove the cut beards.
It turned out to be a beautiful decorative feather. You can make cuts in a checkerboard pattern. Such a result.
A dyed feather or natural feather with a beautiful colored fan can be made "on a leg". To do this, we leave an arbitrary number of barbs on the tip of the feather, and remove the rest by grabbing with our fingers and pulling along the rod towards the trunk against the growth of barbs, first on one side, then on the other.
We make "arrows" in the same way. First, we leave an arbitrary number of barbs on the tip of the feather, remove the rest, then shape the arrow with scissors, cutting off the barbs at the desired angle. The nib should be long with a solid shaft.
Biot - a beard from the front edge of a bird's flight feather, used by fishermen to make artificial flies. Biot is an interesting material for handicrafts as well. We tie knots on biota feathers. They look like stars.
We curl the feathers of the biota with a curling iron.
Feathers are decorated with rhinestones, trunks and rods with beads, braided with beads.
