An ottoman is a small padded seat without a backrest that can be used in place of a stool or footrest. A model suitable for the interior can be bought at a furniture store or made by hand. A pouf, which is no longer pleasing to the eye with its bright upholstery, is easy to update. Cover it with a new fabric, adding a soft lining, and you have a new piece of furniture made to your taste.

Instructions
Step 1
Take an old ottoman or make a plywood frame. Measure the size of the seat and cut a blank out of foam rubber or padding polyester. Measure the height of the pouf. Cut out a wide ribbon and wrap the sides with it. Attach the foam rubber with a furniture stapler on all sides, firmly fixing the soft pad. If it doesn't feel soft enough for you, reinforce a double layer of foam on the seat.
Step 2
Choose a stylistic solution for the future pouf. Tapestry, velor, synthetic velvet or faux fur can be used to upholster it. For a ottoman in a fashionable ethnic style, a dense satin or curtain fabric that imitates brocade is suitable. A pouf covered with canvas or matting will fit into the interior in the ethno style.
Step 3
The modern interior with light folklore notes will be adorned with elegant patchwork poufs. To make such a cover, pick up flaps of dense fabric in contrasting colors, cut out the same wedges for sitting from them and sew them together from the wrong side. The sides of the pouf can be made monochromatic or sewn from multi-colored stripes.
Step 4
Make a pattern for the seat and side parts to match the size of the lining. They can be attached to the foam rubber with a furniture stapler, carefully tucking the edges. Pull a wide decorative cord around the joints, attaching it to the fabric with quick-drying all-purpose glue.
Step 5
Another option for updating the pouf is to put on a cover made of decorative fabric. This method is much more practical - if necessary, the cover can be removed and washed. Pin the finished parts from the upholstery fabric with pins from the inside and sew on a typewriter. Unscrew the cover. Pull up the hem of the fabric and machine or hand hem. Put the cover on the pouf, straighten the folds.
Step 6
The finished pouf can be decorated. Sew a fringe or fur trim to the bottom edge. In the middle of the seat, you can attach a large button covered with decorative fabric - this option looks especially beautiful on patchwork covers. A bedroom or a ladies' boudoir will be decorated with a pouf with ruffles and lace.
