A wide variety of hats are weaved: boaters, shaved, sombreros, capes and so on. Almost every country has its own national hats. A braided headdress protects from the scorching sun in the summer heat. And straw hats, strewn with artificial flowers, can decorate the head of any fashionista.

It is necessary

  • - straw;
  • - blank;
  • - threads;
  • - scissors.

Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the weaving material. It can be prepared from wheat, rye or oat straw, but pay attention that it is not overripe or crumpled. Pull plants by the roots and try not to break the stems. Cut them into strips by cutting off the knees.

Step 2

Put the straw in a container, for example, a basin, pour over boiling water, cover and let it get wet for a day. After 24 hours, the straw will become soft and pliable. Take it out of the basin, cut it in half along the stem, and iron it through the paper with a hot iron until you have ribbons.

Step 3

Hats are sewn from ribbons woven from four, five or seven ends. Sewing usually starts from the middle of the bottom. Your first hat needs to be sewn on a blank, otherwise you can simply translate the material.

Step 4

Make a small circle of straw ribbon. Sew the next rows with small stitches of 2-3 mm, superimposing them on top of each other in half their width. Stitches can also be made with threads of a contrasting color, for example, sombreros are sewn with green or orange threads.

Step 5

Form the bottom from 8-10 turns of braided tape. Then bend the stitch lengthwise at a right angle. This will mark the transition to the crown. Sew it so that you get an almost cylindrical surface. About ten turns form a crown 6-7 centimeters high.

Step 6

When the crown is ready, break the lash again along the entire circumference at a right angle and continue to sew the brim of the hat. The width of the fields will depend solely on your taste and desire. Gradually reduce the last turn of the lash to nothing and hem it under the previous turn.

Step 7

Moisten the finished hat, iron the brim with an iron on an ironing board, and iron the bottom and crown on a wooden disc.

Step 8

Patch the edges of the brim with tape, and if you are weaving a woman's hat, decorate it with artificial flowers, butterflies or fruits.
