Fur hats are worn for a long time and with proper care it seems that nothing will happen to them. Nevertheless, there comes a not very pleasant moment when you find that the exhaust gases and smoke from the nearest boiler room have done their literally a dirty deed: the fur has darkened and does not look as refined as it should be. It would be nice to clean it, but how? Or you can even repaint the hat in some bright color. But how? Aniline dye, which is usually used to dye knitted hats, is unlikely to help here: "bathing" in boiling water, the fur hat will probably not withstand, it will lose its shape and become tough. However, there are other dyes that are not catastrophic.

It is necessary

  • - cap;
  • - hair dye;
  • - starch;
  • - a blank according to the size of the cap.

Instructions

Step 1

If the white polar fox or mink hat is slightly yellow and you would like to leave it white, simply brush it with starch. Take a handful of starch, squeeze a section of the cap between your palms and rub it in such movements as if you were soaping. In this way, clean the entire cap. After cleaning the hat, shake out all the starch from it. If you have a small attachment, you can vacuum the cap.

Step 2

A heavily yellowed hat can be painted over. In any case, it is necessary to paint in a darker color than it used to be, since when painted in lighter colors, the "native" color will certainly shine through. In industrial conditions, dyeing is done with special dyes, at home you can use ordinary hair dye, since there are a lot of them now, and they give the most unexpected colors. The main problem is that the fur does not come out and that the hat does not lose its shape.

Step 3

Dilute the paint according to the recipe specified in the instructions. Dye the fur the same way you dye your hair, quickly and trying to make it as even as possible. Applies paint better with a shaving brush or toothbrush. Try to keep the paint on the pile without touching the skin. Depending on the color and its desired intensity, select the exposure time. In any case, the hat needs to be dyed longer than the hair. To obtain, for example, a bright red color, you can hold it for up to 3-4 hours.

Step 4

After staining, it is naturally necessary to rinse off the dye. Rinse it off with warm water, again, moisten the skin as little as possible. Of course, it will not work at all, but there is nothing particularly terrible in this, because the hat has probably happened under the snow and under the winter rain.

Step 5

Dry the hat by putting it on the blank. You can use, for example, a large glass jar as a blank. Put on the hat so as to keep the shape as much as possible. Dry in a warm place, not by the radiator or stove.
