Knitted hats are a fashion trend for the fall-winter season. Designers offer to wear a wide variety of models, among which the most popular are voluminous berets. To knit such a thing is within the power of any needlewoman, even a beginner.

Step 1
To knit a bulky beret, you need medium-thick yarn. Very warm and beautiful hats will be obtained from woolen or blended yarn with the addition of acrylic.
Step 2
Cast on 80 stitches on the needles and knit 3 centimeters with 1x1 elastic. Next, knit one row with purl loops and continue knitting with an elastic band for another 3 centimeters. The elastic will be double and tighter.
Step 3
For the main fabric, add 45 loops to the last row of elastic (125 loops in total) and knit with the main pattern. The fabric of the beret can be knitted with absolutely any fantasy pattern, the main thing is that the total number of loops is a multiple of its rapport.
Step 4
Various braids look very nice on a voluminous beret. To knit a pigtail, knit * 2 purl, 6 knit and 2 purl *. Repeat from * to * to the end of the round. Knit purl rows according to the pattern. Work 6 rows in this way.
Step 5
In the 7th row, knit * 2 loops with purl loops, 3 loops on the auxiliary knitting needle at work, 3 loops with the front one, move 3 loops from the auxiliary knitting needle to the working one and knit it with the front one, 2 loops with the purl *. Repeat from * to * to the end of the round.
Step 6
At a height of 20-25 centimeters (depending on how deep you need it), switch to purl stitch. At the same time, make decreases in every second row. First, knit every tenth and eleventh stitches together. Then every sixth and seventh, then the third and fourth, in the last row, knit every two loops together, pull the remaining loops with a thread.
Step 7
The thread should not be cut short, leave a long "tail". With this thread, you can subsequently make a seam on the beret.
Step 8
Moisten the knitted fabric and lay it out on a flat surface. Sew the middle seam by hand or machine stitch.
