Knitting a summer beret is a painstaking but exciting business. It can be done with simple posts or an intricate pattern. The main thing is that the product turns out to be light, "breathable" and goes well with certain outfits and accessories. A novice needlewoman needs to master the basic principles of circular knitting, additions and subtractions of columns. Then you can connect your imagination to create a truly unique thing.

Step 1
Choose the right material and basic pattern for knitting a beret. It is recommended to make a summer garment with linen, cotton or bamboo threads. The optimal hook size is # 2. For knitting the bottom of the headdress, you can use, in particular, a pattern for a napkin of a suitable size. Do the rest of the beret in single crochets.
Step 2
Start knitting a summer beret with a chain of stitches (six links in total). With a half-column, connect the last loop to the first, rounding the top.
Step 3
Tie the resulting circle with single crochets, then follow the selected pattern. To round the bottom of the beret, you need to evenly add loops from the first row. The main principle of work:
- according to the number of loops of the first row, divide the circle into parts (these are future wedges;
- if you want to get an even circle, do a couple of columns from the loop, located next to the previous increase;
- to get a more interesting shape of the beret (with a polygonal bottom), always perform the increments exactly one above the other.
Step 4
Form a knitted circle of the desired size and begin to tighten the fabric to give it the shape of a beret. To do this, you need to go from an openwork pattern to single crochets and evenly reduce the loops. You should reach a circular row corresponding to the circumference of the head - this is the beginning of the band (rim) of the headdress.
Step 5
Tie a rim about 3 cm high in single crochet stitches. If desired, decorative strapping can be made along the bottom edge of the product. For example, a pico pattern looks good on a summer thing:
- the hook enters the first column of the circular row;
- a yarn is made and stretched;
- another yarn;
- the thread is pulled through both loops formed on the hook.
Step 6
You just need to cut the working thread, leaving a free end about 6 cm in length, and unnoticeably drag it with a crochet along the seamy side of the finished summer beret.
