Mini-gardens are an excellent opportunity for amateur flower growers to use their imagination, invention and get the most beautiful plant composition for the windowsill, if there is no own garden yet or outside the window it is winter and it is impossible to create outdoors.
The creation of a miniature plant composition should begin with an idea. With unlimited possibilities for creating a creation, do not forget that the plants are still alive and over time your mini-garden will grow and change. Therefore, when choosing plants, it is better to pay attention to those that will grow up for a long time. In addition, they should have the same care requirements - you should not plant nearby plants that adore light and shade-loving, for example.
After the composition has been thought out and the plants, from which the mini-garden will be made, have been prepared, take care of the other components. You will need a container for your future composition - it can be an ordinary large flower pot, a plastic cake container, or even a simple glass jar.
Choose a soil for plants depending on what kind of plants you plan to plant. Don't forget the drainage material.
Also prepare decorative elements, and to aid in seating, a scoop or small spatula. If loose soil is needed, you will need some vermiculite.
How the mini-garden will look like depends only on the imagination of the creator. You can build a classic park or a beautiful rocky hill, or make a mini-copy of your estate. Or look for a photo with a beautiful landscape and try to copy part of it.
First, drainage is poured into the pot at the bottom, then the soil.
Plants are planted in accordance with a pre-developed plan. If you really want to combine plants that require different soil, you can arrange them in separate pots, put them in one container, and cover them with decorative elements on top.
If a reservoir is conceived, a depression is made for it in the ground, into which special blue balls are poured or a small plastic tray is arranged and water is poured. The paths are sprinkled with real sand, shells, small pebbles.
A miniature garden on the windowsill requires care and maintenance - from time to time you will have to touch up, pinch, trim the plants, and sometimes remove weeds. When watering, you should try to avoid places where there are no plants, so that water does not accumulate there and mold does not form.
