Dill makes the dish tastier and healthier. Greens can be purchased at the supermarket and on the market, but it is better to grow them yourself, this can be done even in an apartment. For this, it is important to know a few subtleties: the characteristics of the varieties and the rules of cultivation.
For planting in a pot, it is better to choose the following varieties: "Kibray", "Asparagus bouquet", "Superdukat", "Abundant", "Bundle".
The first step is to prepare the seeds. To speed up the sprouting process, we soak the seeds in a solution of biostimulants, for example, in "Ribav-Extra" or "Kornevin". The first shoots can be expected 4-5 days after planting.
For dill, you need to carefully choose the pot. It should be wide, one should not forget about the drainage from stone chips or expanded clay, the drainage layer is 3 cm. The soil is only suitable loose and not acidic, so that it retains moisture well. You can prepare it yourself: mix garden soil, peat, sand and humus in equal proportions. After soaking, dry the seeds and plant them at a distance of 2-2.5 cm, lightly sprinkle them with peat and carefully compact the soil. Before emergence, the pot is covered with cellophane.
So that it does not stretch out in the first 7 days after germination, you need to lower the temperature at night. Adequate lighting must be provided for lush greenery to form. In the summer, the sun's rays are enough for dill, and in the winter you will need a backlight lamp.
As soon as shoots have appeared, the cellophane is removed. The higher the temperature on the windowsill, the more abundantly and more often the dill is watered. At temperatures above 25 ° C, greens are regularly sprayed to help them cope with the heat. A crust must not be allowed to appear on the ground. Plants are fed once every 14 days with complex fertilizers with a minimum nitrogen content.
