The Easter basket is a traditional attribute of this beautiful Christian holiday. Made of bright materials, the basket will become not only an elegant packaging for colored eggs and Easter cakes, but also a festive decoration of the Easter table.
Making an Easter basket out of fabric is an exciting, creative and low cost process. as working materials, scraps of fabric, plastic packaging from under products, small textile rags of various textures can be used.
Solid base basket
The simplest fabric basket is made with burlap and a bucket of mayonnaise or ice cream. The plastic container is pasted over with a cloth, the joints are masked using decorative elements: cord, ribbon, beads, lace, braid, artificial flowers, etc. The handle of the future basket is wrapped in a spiral with tape and fixed with glue or double-sided tape. Foam rubber is placed inside the basket and decorated with grass, twigs, sisal or straw, on top of which colored eggs are laid.
It is equally easy to make a basket based on a plastic bottle. The bottom of the bottle is cut off, and the inside of the plastic base is covered with a light cloth so that the ends of the material hang outward and can be fixed near the bottom of the future basket with an elastic band or thin wire. To decorate the outside, you need a circle of fabric of such a diameter so that it can cover the entire workpiece. Along the edge of the outer circle, you can sew lace or beautiful braid. The basket blank is installed in the center of the fabric circle, its edges are raised and fixed at the top of the product using a needle and thread. A handle is made from scraps of a plastic bottle, which is tightly wrapped with tape or a strip of fabric and attached to the edges of the basket with a stapler. The finished basket can be tied with a bow - this will allow you to more reliably fix the outer part of the fabric and give the product a more elegant look.
Patchwork weaving
If you have a clothesline and colorful scraps of fabric at hand, you can easily make a very elegant and original basket from them. To do this, the shreds are sewn together into a long tape, after which the rope is wrapped with this tape. In order for the fabric tape to adhere to the rope tightly enough, it is necessary to periodically grab it with a needle and thread. After that, the rope is laid in a spiral, gradually lifting its turns up and stitching together so that the basket keeps its shape. The basket handle is made in the same way and is attached to the sides of the finished product.
Stitched basket
A more time-consuming method of making a textile basket is with a sewing machine. To do this, you will need a dense, preferably canvas fabric for the front side and a delicate cotton fabric for the lining. A circle is cut out of the canvas fabric, equal to the diameter of the bottom of the future basket and a rectangle, the length of which is equal to the circumference of the bottom of the basket, taking into account the seam allowances. Details are sealed with non-woven fabric, bast and sewn together on a sewing machine. The same is done with the cushioning fabric, with only one difference - the height of the walls should be slightly higher than that of the main fabric. The two finished parts are folded with the wrong sides to each other, the edges are folded and lace or decorative braid is laid between them. A strip is cut out of the main fabric, which will serve as a handle. The edges of the handle are processed on a sewing machine, after which the part is inserted between the base and the lining of the basket, all elements are sewn together, the finished basket is decorated with flowers, ribbons, beads.
