Of course, today you can find a dressing gown for every color and taste on sale. However, it is much more pleasant to wear a thing that is knitted with your own hands. In addition, a beautiful knitted robe can be a wonderful gift for your friends and loved ones.
What you need to knit
Using different yarns and patterns, you can knit a light summer garment or even a warm bathrobe that will keep you warm on winter evenings. First, decide on the thread. For a dressing gown, it is best to use natural cotton yarn. But synthetics and wool are unlikely to be suitable for these purposes, since they can cause irritation and allergic reactions on the skin.
To knit a dressing gown with your own hands, you will need:
- yarn;
- knitting needles or hook;
- tape measure.
How to knit a dressing gown
To determine the required number of loops for a set, you need to knit a 10x10 centimeters sample from the selected yarn, with the same pattern and knitting needles that you will use for the product itself.
Usually knitting starts from the back. To do this, dial the number of loops calculated according to the sample (adding 2 edge loops) and knit with a pattern for a strip of 6-10 centimeters. After that, add 2-4 loops and knit the canvas with the main pattern to the length you need. At the end, close the loops, while cutting off the working thread. Then start knitting the right shelf. Cast on the required number of stitches (including 2 edge stitches) according to the measurements you have taken and the referenced pattern.

Next, knit 6-10 centimeters with a plank pattern, then add 2-4 loops in the last row and knit the canvas of the desired length with the main pattern. Without having tied 6-7 centimeters to the end, begin to draw up the neck. To do this, in each even row on the left edge of the shelf, close one time - four loops, three, two, one. When the canvas is the correct length, close the shoulder loops. Knit the left shelf symmetrically.
The next stage of work is knitting the sleeves. Cast on the required number of loops and knit with a pattern for 12 centimeters planks. To get the side bevels, from each edge of the canvas, add one loop five times in each 15th row. After knitting the fabric of the desired length, close the loops. In this way, tie the two sleeves. Sew the connected parts.
Optionally, you can complement the knitted robe with a belt, a hood and patch pockets.
