Baptism is a sacred sacrament that becomes the first step towards a new stage in a person's life. Therefore, everything should be appropriate for the occasion, and especially the clothes. And it's best to make a baptismal gown by yourself. Use a thin natural fabric for sewing - cambric, chintz or calico.
It is necessary
- 1) The main fabric is from 1 to 1, 20 m wide and from 60 cm long (depending on the size of the child).
- 2) Satin ribbon - 8 m.
- 3) Symmetrical lace - 8 m.
Instructions
Step 1
In addition to the main material, prepare a thin satin ribbon and lace two and a half centimeters wide and about eight meters long. This will come in handy for decorating your shirt. Choose the color of the ribbon depending on the gender of the child, you can blue, you can pink or neutral - white.
Step 2
Since a shirt with a wrap on the back will be much more comfortable than the other option, then make the back from two parts with a wrap allowance of 5-6 centimeters.
Step 3
Mark the middle of the front and sew lace along this line from the neck to the very bottom. Then place a satin ribbon over the lace and stitch on both sides.
Step 4
Cut the remaining lace in half so that it becomes narrower, and stitch in the front, stepping back from the already sewn ribbon on both sides of it 0.7 cm. Stitch the lace also along the bottom, making a small gather.
Step 5
Connect the shelf along the shoulder cuts. Finish the seams on the overlock. Add lace to the seams and topstitch with a satin ribbon. Slightly making gathers, sew lace on the bottom of the sleeves, also decorating the top with a ribbon. Sew the side seams, leaving a small notch at the waist on one side (for the tie ribbon), and sweep the entire shirt round. Trim the neckline with a bias tape.
Step 6
Trim the back halves with a fold in the place of the smell and sew two ribbons at the level of the left slot.
Step 7
On the left chest, sew a small cross from a ribbon.
Step 8
Take a ready-made white cap and decorate it to match your shirt. Sew lace with a ribbon around the edges. You can only stitch a ribbon in two rows from the forehead to the back of the head. And you will already have not just a shirt for a baptism, but a whole suit that will become an adornment for a child receiving a baptism, and then will remind him of this important event in his life.
