The strip does not leave fashion catwalks, so in the fall-winter season 2016-2017, a bright print adorns designer clothes and accessories. You don't have to spend large sums to look relevant. It is enough to knit striped mittens, get a headdress, a scarf in the same style - and the image is complete! Moreover, mittens knitted from woolen or blended yarn are an indispensable thing in the cold.

How to knit mitten cuffs

The cuffs of the mittens, which will protect from frost and wind, should be long enough to fit the wrist well and not squeeze it. To knit mittens with knitting needles exactly according to the hand of the future owner, you must first measure the girth of the wrists and make a 1x1 strip 10 cm long with an elastic band. After trying on, you will know how many initial loops you need.

Begin to knit the cuff on the stocking needles round in two threads - auxiliary (severe) and main (wool, blended yarn). When finished, you will carefully remove the harsh thread, and the lower part of the mitten will be better fixed on the wrist. When you knit the part of the desired height, proceed to the execution of the palm part of the mitten.

Two-color or multicolor knitting

The trendy stripe is a great pattern to knit for beginners with mittens. It is very simple to perform, and the result depends on the brightness of the colors and their combinations. Think over the alternation of stripes, their height. For example, 4 rows of pink yarn, 2 rows of purple. Or 4 rows of red and brown, 2 rows of dark brown and yellow, again 4 red, etc.

Start knitting mittens in a circle with a new color of yarn. After completing the strip, put into work a thread of a different color, while broaches are formed from the wrong side of the work from the threads that have not yet been used. Make sure that they stretch evenly, without sagging or tightening the canvas!

To avoid ugly “steps” at the place of the color change, you must perform the following actions:

- mark the beginning of the circular row with a marker, pin, contrasting thread;

- place the working thread over the non-working (temporarily not used);

- complete the circle with a new color;

- at the beginning of the second circular row in the same color;

- Thus, the loop that was the first in the new circle became the last in the previous one;

- knit the second row in the same color as usual.

When introducing a new color of yarn for the next strip, repeat everything according to the described pattern, that is, constantly shift the first loop of the circular row one to the left. This diagonal line of displacements will be visible only from the inside of the mittens - an oblique line of thread broaches is formed, while from the outside the striped product will look neat, the pattern will turn out to be even.

Finger and toe of mittens

Continue to knit mittens with needles in a circle, successively alternating multi-colored stripes. At the place where the base of the thumb of the future owner of the mittens will be, string several loops on an auxiliary knitting needle or pin, and over the resulting void, perform air loops according to the number of removed ones.

Knit a circular piece of fabric until it reaches the beginning of your little finger. Now you need to make the toe of the palm cloth: on each of the four knitting needles, knit the last two loops together by the front threads. Tighten the last four loops.

Insert one knitting needle into the loops removed for the finger, cast on the same number of additional loops on the other, plus 2-4 for the sides, depending on the thickness of the finger. Distribute everything over 3 needles. Work in circular rows up to half of the nail plate and finish knitting by taking the toe of the mitten as a sample. If you managed to neatly, without errors, knit a mitten into a strip, follow the second pattern according to the pattern of the first.
