Paper cutting is a hobby that even a child can do. Together with him, you can learn to cut out the simplest paper figures. Gradually complicating tasks and learning new techniques, you will master the art of artistic carving together and will be able to create practically paintings out of paper.
It is necessary
- - paper;
- - pencil;
- - scissors;
- - paper knife;
- - cutting mat.
Instructions
Step 1
If the shape you want to cut is symmetrical, you can simplify the task and complete it faster. Fold the sheet in half. The fold line is the central axis in the character's drawing. From it, start drawing half of the figure. Cut out the figure with scissors along the outlines, leaving a whole fold line.
Step 2
To cut a plot that contains more of the same elements, fold a square sheet of paper in half along the horizontal axis, then along the vertical axis. The next fold line is the diagonal of the resulting square. Cut out any pattern, leaving the fold line and one or two rays intact from the center to the edge. Thanks to these segments, the figure will remain intact.
Step 3
You can make a garland from simple paper figures. Take a strip of paper as long as you want the garland to be. Determine the width of each shape. Fold the paper like an accordion. The width of each segment of the "accordion" should be half the width of the figurine. Then you can follow the algorithm described in the first step.
Step 4
To keep the line smoother, cut with wide strokes, opening the scissor blades as much as possible. If you are carving a simple shape without preliminary sketching, look at the end of the scissor blades to make the lines more precise. To make an uneven edge - jagged or wavy - you can use curly-bladed scissors. Also, ordinary and curly hole punches are useful for paper crafts. With their help, you can make small holes that are too long and inconvenient to cut with scissors.
Step 5
You will need other tools to create more complex shapes. In the papercutting technique, craftsmen cut out almost jewelry silhouettes. Take paper with a density of 160 g / m2. Sketch with a pencil. You can cut out the silhouette and glue the remaining background onto a contrasting backing. Or use only the cut-out shape, and leave a sheet of paper with a silhouette for other crafts. In the first case, you can create patterns of any complexity - you can cut them out in parts. If you want to create a separate figure, start with a more concise outline.
Step 6
Place thick cardboard or a special cutting mat under the sketch. Thanks to him, the knife is much less dull, and there are no cuts on the rug itself. Use an art knife instead of scissors. These tools have a comfortable thin handle (like a felt-tip pen) and a small blade. Place the knife on the paper so that the blade is exactly perpendicular to the table surface. Draw lines easily, without pressure. If you are not sure if the paper has cut through, run the knife 2-3 more times with the knife.
