In knitting, each product needs to be finished by closing the extreme edge of the loops so that they do not unravel. You can close the loops with knitting needles in various ways that suit different types of products. If you have knitted a model that requires extra elasticity on the edge - for example, if you need to close the buttonhole of an elasticated knit neckline on a sweater or pullover - the needle fastening method will help you.
Instructions
Step 1
Use a blunt, flat-eye needle - a thick darning needle will work well for closing stitches. Leave the loops of the last knitting row remaining on the knitting needle open, and then unwind the working thread to a length two to three times the length of the neck row.
Step 2
Cut the thread and thread the tip into the darning needle, and then insert the needle from right to left at the same time into the first and second stitches of the last row. Lower the first two stitches from the needle and tighten with working thread.
Step 3
Then insert the needle into the first stitch and then into the third. Pull up the working thread and remove the loop from the knitting needle.
Step 4
Then insert the needle under the broach from the work loop and insert it into the second purl loop that was pulled down. From right to left, insert the needle into the purl loop on the knitting needle. As in the previous case, tighten the loops by pulling on the working thread and lower them from the knitting needle.
Step 5
Now insert the needle into the dropped knit stitch, and then insert the same needle into the knit stitch that remains on the knitting needle. Tighten the working thread, lower the stitches from the knitting needle, and continue to close the remaining open stitches of the row in this way. When you reach the end, tighten the end of the thread and tie it.
Step 6
With this method, you can arrange the edge of the neckline, which, after closing the loops, will not lose its elasticity.
