Step 1
Dachshund is a medium-sized dog, so it doesn't take a lot of yarn to make clothes for it. First of all, measure the circumference of the animal's neck on the collar, and count how many loops are required. Type the required number of needles on the knitting needles and tie 6 - 9 cm with an elastic band. Then continue to knit in stockinette stitch or garter stitch.
Step 2
After knitting several rows, make sure the neck is long enough to wrap around the dachshund's neck. To do this, stretch the dialed loops on the knitting needle, as if the neck of the animal stretched the knitting when dressing. Measure the distance with a centimeter and compare with the circumference of the neck. If the length seems insufficient, it is better to undo the knitting and, having added the required number of loops, start over.
Step 3
Continuing knitting after the end of the elastic, increase the number of loops by about 6 to 10, adding two in every fifth row. This way you can increase the width of the dachshund chest product. After tying about five centimeters of the widest section, make holes for the paws, applying the knitting to the pet to prevent mistakes in the construction of the product.
Step 4
To create holes for the paws, divide the knitting in the desired place into two parts. Knit each of the three resulting branches over five centimeters. Then combine all three parts again. Next, knit the product without changes. If the waist of the dachshund is very different in size from the volume of the chest, then after closing the cutouts for the paws, reduce the loops and finish knitting with an elastic band. The sweater or vest will fit closer to the waist of the dachshund.
Step 5
If sleeves are needed, tie them separately and then sew to the base. The sleeve pattern is a simple rectangle. A sweater or vest for a male dachshund should be shorter due to the physiological characteristics of the dogs. Sew in the split zipper.
