Leggings are an original accessory that not only adds its own touch to the girl's clothing style, but also additionally warms up in cold weather. You don't have to buy leggings if you have an unwanted old sweater. A little time - and you can make them yourself.
It is necessary
- - sleeves from an old sweater;
- - 2 buttons;
- - threads and sewing needles;
- - scissors;
- - glue.
Instructions
Step 1
Cut the sleeves from the old sweater to the length you want. A sweater with elastic cuffs with elastic bands on the sleeves is best for creating gaiters so that in the future the gaiters will not slide off your feet. You can use not only an old women's sweater, you can also look for suitable material for creating leggings in a men's wardrobe. The optimal length of gaiters is just below the knee. Leggings with this length will suit any clothing and footwear.
Step 2
Place the cut sleeves on top of each other and trim the edges with scissors.
Step 3
Pass the glue along the cut edge of the sleeves so that the threads of the gaiters will not creep out in the future. Colorless nail polish can also be used instead of glue. Leave to dry completely. Another way is also possible - to sew the edges of the sleeves so that the sweater threads do not come out when you wear gaiters.
Step 4
For beauty, fold the edges of the cut sleeves outward. Usually, the narrower part of the sleeve is used for the knee, and the wider part for the lower leg. If you are wearing a men's sweater, the bottom of the leggings is likely to be wide. If this does not suit you, then put on leggings, secure with pins the desired width, remove and sew the leggings with threads from the wrong side.
Step 5
Find the right buttons. Sew to the outside of the folded hem of the sleeve.
