Out of fashion and worn things, if they are well preserved and made of high-quality materials, are a pity to throw away. But it is not necessary to keep them in the closet for many years, even an old sweater can be given another life by remaking it into something you need.

It is necessary

  • - old sweater;
  • - scissors;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - ribbons, jersey, bias tape;
  • - buttons.

Instructions

Step 1

If the item is well preserved, and you are just tired of the model, try converting an old sweater into a cardigan. To do this, cut the sweater in the center of the front and smoothly cut the collar. Choose a knitted tape of a suitable or contrasting color and sew the bottom, front slit, collar (you can use one continuous tape). Also, trim the sleeves and sew on the ties or buttons in the same way - as a result, you will get an original fashionable cardigan from an old sweater.

Step 2

If you like a bolero style, also trim the bottom of the sweater so that it barely covers your chest. Then trim the edges with tape, fringe, or bias tape.

Step 3

Inspect the sleeves, if they are stretched out and do not look important, cut them off along with the armhole. Sew a fitted skirt from the remaining double fabric. To do this, measure your hips, waist, halve and mark on your sweater. Trim off the excess around the edges and sew neatly, fold the edge on top and insert the elastic. Be sure to overcast the edges, as knitwear, especially large knits, very easily unravel and let the "arrows".

Step 4

From the remaining sleeves, make mitts (gaiters) or armbands. Simply trim the trimmed edge, punch out a thumb hole (for oversleeves) and wear them over your arms or legs in cool weather, draping beautifully and pairing with other garments.

Step 5

To get a vest out of a sweater, simply cut off the sleeves and collar and cut the front in half. Trim the edges and sew on the buttons for a warm, cozy vest.

Step 6

Use the fabric obtained from the cut sweater for sewing any items - hats, scarves, mittens, etc. Sew a small cushion. From a shrunken woolen sweater, make a cozy bag, use sleeves or purchased ribbons for the handles.
