Step 1
Clean any dirt from your jacket. Use color-restoring products. If the item does not lend itself to home cleaning, take it to the laundry. Machine the material with a pilling machine or remove the build-up by hand.

Change the length of your jacket. An old long jacket can be shortened to the hips or even to the waist. See how the edge of the piece has been finished and repeat this process on a new cut line.

Sew belt loops at the waist. Sew the belt from the material of a suitable texture. You can choose a contrasting shade of fabric, or vice versa, complementing the color of the jacket. Choose the method of attaching the belt based on the cut of the jacket, you can use a beautiful buckle or just tie it with a knot.
Step 5
Shorten the sleeves. You can make it three-quarters long or cut it to the elbow. Handle the sections carefully.

Sew decorative, thin leather patches in an oval shape to the elbows. They are appropriate for casual clothing for everyday wear.

Sew on bright decorative buttons. You can also replace the buckles and old worn hardware.
