If you have a coat that looks out of date, but the material from which it is made is of high quality and does not look worn out, you can redo it and happily wear it for more than one season.

Step 1
Try to repurpose an old coat, this method of updating things was used by our mothers and grandmothers, if the thing is pretty worn out and worn out. Keep in mind that this process is very laborious and good if the wrong side of the material can act as the front one without losing its appearance. Cut off the lining of the coat and open all the seams. Wash the parts from which the product was sewn. Sew the item together in a reverse mirror image so that the details on the right side become details on the left. Step 2
Extend the existing product. To do this, purchase a small piece of fabric that matches the main fabric of the coat in texture, color and density. Make a rectangular piece out of it, process the bottom edge and wrap, and sew to the hem along the entire length. You can mark the new material below or above the fold line, depending on the condition of the coat fabric. For a finished look, sew wide cuffs to the sleeves of the same material. Remember that this style change is only good if the coat has a straight cut without gussets, and the sleeves do not expand at the bottom.
Step 3
Sew an old grandmother's coat "to the floor" with wide shoulders; from such a product it is quite possible to carve out details for a new fashionable thing. Here are some ideas for how you can change your style. Firstly, this is a coat with a "butt" fastener, without a smell and a collar. You can fix the floors with decorative pins and hooks. Secondly, you can make a waist on a new product and not necessarily in a traditional place, choose a style with a high or low waistline. Thirdly, you can insert gussets of a suitable material into the hem to give the coat a new silhouette.
